A homeowner in Minneapolis, MN had high radon levels and they wanted to get a radon mitigation system installed. Our crew of Dakota and Geno installed the system starting in the utility room, to the closet (as shown), to the garage, and through the roof. The purpose of the system is to pull radon from underneath the ground and guiding it through the home to the outside of the home so it can escape into the open air. Terri S. of Minnetonka, MN wanted to get a Radon Mitigation System installed in their home. Our Foreman, Geno Mclain, and his crew member started the installation from the basement utility room to the outside of the home, where they installed the system. The mitigation system is the heart of the system; if it isn't working, radon will not be able to escape the home. Terri was very happy with the installation and the radon levels in her home dropped dramatically.
Jeffrey H. in Champlin, MN discovered the adverse effects that radon gas has on people's health and he became concerned because his home had not yet been tested. He started looking for a company to test his home, and he came across American Waterworks’ website. He was glad to see that along with concrete repair, basement waterproofing and foundation repair, we also offer radon testing and mitigation. He gave us a call and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to his home to set up the test. The results showed that Jeffrey did in fact have unsafe levels of radon in his home. Jeremy explained the risks of not having a radon mitigation system installed and he walked Jeffrey through the installation process. Jeffrey wanted to have the system installed as soon as possible, so they scheduled the project.
Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete under the stairs in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post mitigation test results showed that his home was now a much safer environment. The installation took only one day to complete, and Jeffrey is glad he took action to protect his and his family’s health.
