The old sump pump was unable to keep up with the amount of water entering the basement, leaving it vulnerable during heavy rains and storms. Sick of the cleanup process, the homeowner sought out a dependable and long-term solution.
Moisture in the crawl space caused the insulation to become saturated and subsequently detach. This created an environment conducive to mold growth and posed risks for structural issues such as wood rot.
Water consistently seeped through the foundation wall behind the drywall, subjecting the garage to high humidity, mold growth, and water infiltration into the basement. To ensure a healthier and more protected garage environment, a comprehensive waterproofing solution was imperative.
The interior perimeter of the foundation was excavated to allow space for the WaterGuard system to be installed.
Due to the substantial presence of water in the soil surrounding the foundation, the foundation wall would intermittently experience water seepage during heavy rains or storms. This seepage exposed the drywall to potential damage, including mold growth, thereby compromising the aesthetic and structural integrity of the finished basement.
Before we started work on the project, the crawl space was damp and musty. This caused the insulation to absorb moisture and fall, ultimately leaving the home vulnerable to energy inefficiency and cold floors. Excessive moisture can also subject the crawl space to mold growth, wood rot, and musty odors throughout the home.
Basement leaks and flooding led to floor discoloration, mold proliferation, and elevated humidity levels. Consequently, stored items in the basement were at significant risk of damage.
Prior to our team coming out to the home, the homeowner attempted to stop water seepage in the basement by applying tape to where water would enter the basement space. Despite this temporary attempt, water still seeped through the cold joint. They knew they needed a permanent solution in order to protect their semi-finished space.
