This crawl space is filled with fallen fiberglass insulation, standing water and a lot of rodent droppings.
The falling insulation from the sub-floor indicates that their are moisture issues and it is getting absorbed into the insulation.
This photo shows when water seeps through into the crawl space, it brings outside sediment with it that can cause rips and tears in the vapor barrier.
Along the foundation walls of this crawl space, efflorescence is left behind. This is a white salt deposit that gets brought in from water and is left behind as that water evaporates.
After years of water seeping through and flooding in the space, the noticeable signs were the discoloration on the basement floors showing where the water was puddling.
The cracks in the basement walls allow easy access for water to seep through and puddle in the basement.
As water pushes up against the foundation, it creates pressure along the basement walls that eventually puddles up through the paint and cracks the walls.
The insulation in this crawl space had experienced significant moisture damage and was falling from the sub-floor. Not only does this negate its purpose of insulating the home, but it also creates an environment for mold and mildew to grow.
