The cracks in the basement walls allow easy access for water to seep through and puddle in the basement.
This home was dealing with excess moisture in the basement that was caused from water seeping in through the walls and evaporating into the air.
The puddling of water on the vapor barrier indicates a significant water intrusion with no safe passageway to exit.
Due to heavy rainfall, this crawl space was constantly flooding with water that was deteriorating the original vapor barrier.
Because water evaporated into the air and was absorbed by the fiberglass insulation, it resulted it in sagging and falling from the sub-floor.
Water accumulated over the old vapor barrier
The exposed dirt from a damaged vapor barrier allows for water to get into the crawl space and once it evaporates it creates an excess moisture in the air. That moisture causes the fiberglass to sag, negating it purpose of insulating the home.
We jackhammer into the concrete of the interior perimeter in order to create a space to install the drainage system.
