This homeowner in Millers Falls, MA called us with issues with her attic insulation. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived in the home, he noticed that the area around the chimney was not insulated. This is a fairly common occurrence, as normally, you are not able to put anything within 2" of the chimney that could be combustible. However, this leaves a large gap that is uninsulated -- causing your energy bills to rise and the air you pay to condition to escape to the attic.
Fogarty's Home Services has a fairly simple solution to this problem. This customer's recommended solution was a "chimney wrap". We first had to put metal flashing between the wood framing and the chimney. This was sealed with "fire caulk", a high temperature caulk. We then used fireproof "Rock Wool" insulation panels around the chimney. This made it possible for us to use our blown-in TruSoft™ cellulose insulation in the rest of the attic. These solutions lowered our customer's energy bills and made her home more comfortable year round!
This home owner in Leverett, MA had an issue with here bilco door leading to her basement. It was very old, rusted, and even had some holes in it. It not only was letting in more air than normal but also could be letting in insects and rodents. So the only thing to do was to replace it. After putting the new door on, we re-concreted the space for a nice clean look. Now this home owner doesn't have to worry about that old bilco door anymore!
This new homeowner in Leverett, MA wanted to make sure her home was energy efficient and ready for winter before moving in. There was a thin, brittle foam board on the underside of the home which clearly would not hold up over time or have as much insulation value as needed.
We took out the old foam boards and replaced them with our 4-inch SilverGlo foam board insulation held into place with special long screws. SilverGlo has a radiant barrier face to ensure the insulation isn't doing all the work on its own. Any seams were sealed with foam, and in this case, we also sprayed load bearing beams set below the foam boards to stop conduction to and from the home.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, this homeowner will have a home that will brave the winter comfortably.
This homeowner in Manchester, CT was experiencing a problem with ice damming. She also wanted to prevent warm air from leaking into her attic in the winter. Our team installed our Super Knee Wall system. These SilverGlo panels create a barrier to prevent air leakage. The homeowner was very happy with the results. The cost of heating and cooling her home will be reduced and the home will be more comfortable year-round.
This homeowner in Manchester, CT called us hoping to insulate between the two sides of the duplex he owns. He lived in one side, and he had tenants on the other side. He was experiencing issues with his home comfort. Specifically, his home was much too warm in the summer and cold in the winter. His tenant was also having this issue. He wanted his walls insulated, including the interior walls.
We had the perfect solution for this customer. We dense packed the walls using TruSoft™ cellulose insulation. For the interior walls, 2.56” holes were drilled through the drywall. A fill tube was inserted up (and down) into wall cavities to not only fill, but dense pack the wall cavities. Dense packing is a technique that packs the insulation in very tightly - so tightly that all irregular shaped cavities and crevices in the wall cavities are filled, and air will not penetrate the dense packed cellulose. Dense packed cellulose stops air flow through the wall and insulates. TruSoft™ Cellulose is treated to be highly fire, mold and pest resistant. The holes were then plugged so that the homeowner could repaint them. Result - A less drafty, warmer, quieter, more comfortable house, less dust/pollen, house not so dry in winter, lower fuel/electric bills, heating system runs less - less maintenance.
