Greg in Madisonville, KY, had joists in his crawl space that were not installed correctly, so he had cinderblocks put underneath there to fix the sagging. Now that some time has passed, the cinderblocks are no longer touching the floors and they're leaning. The problem with installing block columns is that as the concrete columns later settle into the soil below, additional shims may need to be added. In other words, this is a fix that will need to be repeated, again and again. This option doesn't also address the root problem.
Our team installed 7 SmartJacks. SmartJacks are steel support systems used to permanently stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space. SmartJacks do not replace the existing columns and piers but add strength and stability to what is there. Once the system is tightened, the support beam and floor joists are immediately stabilized and the above floors and walls can be lifted back toward level.
Do you notice that some of your first-level floors are sloping or sagging? Do you see gaps between your floors and walls? Healthy Spaces is here to help! We offer a free, no-obligation inspection.
Some signs of your foundation becoming unstable are visible cracks, but what about the problems you don't usually think of? Do the floors above your crawl space seem bouncy, soft, or unlevel? This is exactly what Linda W. from Hanson, KY was experiencing. Her floors began to slope and was slowly creating a gap between the floor and interior walls. When she saw this problem arising, she gave Healthy Spaces a call to fix her problem.
Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, came to Linda's home and provided her with a free estimate. He took a look at the foundation issues and provided her with a proposal to go over. Damon recommended a SmartJack System to cure her sloping floors. The SmartJack Stabilizer is a steel support system used to stabilize and level the girders and floor joists in a crawl space. The system has been laboratory tested to support loads of more than 60,000 pounds, making it the ideal system to stabilize your sagging floor, any walls sitting on top of that floor, and additional loads from the home.
With the job complete and the floors stable again, Linda is enjoying the changes the SmartJack system has made to her Hanson, KY home.

In Monroe City, IN, a home with a basement needed repairs to the cracks that were spreading throughout the basement walls. The crack was in the middle of the walls that spread throughout the rest of the walls, leading to wall failure. If a problem such as this one is not solved, then it can lead to severe issues such as leaning walls and walls sliding in at the bottom of the structure. The homeowners needed reassurance that their basement walls would not give out soon.
A GeoLock Wall Anchor System was installed to stop wall failure in its tracks permanently. The rectangular, silver wall anchor system performs effectively by utilizing plates that are buried in the soil outside the basement wall. It will be installed to have up to 480 square inches of bearing surface. This system provides great stability and is designed to straighten the basement’s wall failure. The GeoLock Anchor System presents minimal disturbance to the home, lawn, and landscaping. Without the disturbance of their landscaping, it thrilled the homeowners about not having to worry about wall failure anymore!
In Monroe City, IN, a couple had a horizontal crack located on one of the walls in the basement. The crack seemed to worsen within a month or two, causing the couple to reach out to us for an inspection. Upon inspection, the wall was starting to bow and needed to be permanently straightened. The problem was solved using the Geolock Wall Anchor system. Once it was installed, the couple wanted to cover the GeoLocks to make the space feel more at home.
To cover the GeoLocks, each system is covered by the GeoLock cover. Covering the system is not necessary but it does create a "finished" look to the space.
