After living in their home for a year and a half, these Dunlap, IA homeowners were dismayed to discover water intrusion in their crawl space. The water was leading to mold growth and they were rightly concerned about the potential long-term structural damage. To protect their investment and health, they contacted the experts at MidAmerica Basement Systems. We transformed the space utilizing our encapsulation system. This system fully sealed the space with a thick, pool-liner-like material called CleanSpace. CleanSpace eliminates moisture and prevents mold growth in the space. By eliminating these dark, wet conditions, the system also keeps out insects and pests that thrive there. Most importantly, since air from the crawl space rises into the main living area, encapsulation significantly improves the overall air quality of their home by reducing mold spores, musty odors, and humidity. Thanks to the full encapsulation, they now enjoy a healthier, protected home.
Ian of Peoria, IL called MidAmerica Basement Systems because he wanted a warmer, more energy efficient crawlspace. He also wanted it to be dry. He met with design specialist Dan Garner. Dan custom designed a solution for Ian, including SilverGlo Insulation Panels, and CleanSpace. The space is now warm, bright and dry.
Moisture in a crawlspace can cause the floor joists to rot, making the floors of your home sag and unsafe. Lynne of Peoria made a call to MidAmerica Basement Systems to have her crawlspace encapsulated from moisture. During installation, crew members installed CleanSpace, CleanSpace drainage matting, and a SmartDrain. The CleanSpace drainage matting acts as a guide for moisture to the SmartDrain, while CleanSpace acts as a seal to prevent humidity from entering the crawlspace. Keeping the crawlspace dry and free of moisture and humidity, the floor joists will stay strong and sturdy, keeping your floors level and safe.
This crawl space belongs to a homeowner in Peoria who called the team at MidAmerica Basement Systems to encapsulate their crawl space. The team installed drainage matting to the crawl space floor. Drainage matting is a dimpled polyethylene membrane that is installed under the CleanSpace liner (shown in before picture) that allows water to flow to a drain or sump pump. CleanSpace is then installed over the matting and up the crawl space walls to efficiently encapsulate the space. CleanSpace is a very strong material that acts as a vapor/radon barrier and has an antimicrobial additive that resists mold growth. The team also sealed the vent to keep outside air/moisture from entering the crawl space therefor compromising its effectiveness as an encapsulation system. The homeowner has a dryer, healthier crawl space!
