Simple Radon Mitigation with Crack Sealing in Kennebunk, ME

Ann H. in Kennebunk, Maine had radon levels testing between 8 and 17 pCi/L, making mitigation an important step toward improving indoor air quality and protecting her home. Fortunately, the basement layout made this a straightforward project with a clear path for an effective installation.

The system was installed in the rear left corner of the basement, with the piping exiting through the side of the home. An electrical outlet was conveniently located nearby, allowing for a clean and efficient setup. During the site evaluation, a significant crack was identified along a cold joint in the foundation. To help improve system performance and reduce radon entry, we sealed approximately three feet in each direction around the extraction point, creating a stronger and more controlled suction field beneath the slab.

The installation also included a Fan Guard Moisture Kit, helping protect the system from condensation, rain, and seasonal weather conditions while extending the life of the radon fan.

By combining strategic extraction with targeted crack sealing, the system was designed to maximize effectiveness while maintaining a clean appearance.

From elevated radon levels to a professionally protected home, Ann now has greater peace of mind knowing her radon mitigation system is working around the clock to keep indoor air safer.
