Old Fiberglass Falling from Water Weight - Portland, OR

Fiberglass insulation absorbs water and droops from the weight. It grows mold and mildew, and can be an inviting nesting material for critters. With so many reasons not to use it, we are proud to provide proper insulation to another home. Ultimately keeping it dry, healthy, and lowering its heating and cooling costs.

The Insulation Solution - Portland, OR

Since 1974 we have been dedicated to provide the long term solutions for home waterproofing and health. For insulating a crawlspace this means removing old fiberglass insulation and installing TerraBlock over the floor and Spray Foam along the walls.

Massive Crawl Space Transformation- Portland, OR

This crawl space was full of water, rodent droppings and humidity, these owners were overwhelmed with trying to find a solution on their own. They gave us a call and we went out to thoroughly inspect their crawl space and create a plan that will permanently solve these issues. After going over options with the homeowners they decided on a full encapsulation and we began the project. To start,  we removed all of the debris, fiberglass insulation, and the old barrier. Then, we dig a trench around the interior perimeter of the crawl space, and in that trench we install a three inch perforated pipe into a silt sock to secure a passage for water to drain to the lowest point. At this low point we install our SuperSump Plus that will collect the water and pump it outside via a discharge line. We make sure all of the vents are covered to prevent outside air from entering. The homeowner wanted to create an exterior access into the crawlspace, so we cut any entrance into the foundation, and installed our Everlast door that will last through any weather conditions. After that, we move on to installing the TerraBlock. This goes directly on the dirt floor of the crawl space and acts as an insulated barrier between the home and the earth, blocking out any moisture from making its way up. Over top of the TerraBlock, we install CleanSpace which is our 20 mil thick barrier that gets anchored into the foundation walls up to the rim joists and placed in between the footing and the wooden posts. This all gets sealed with our CleanSpace Heavy Duty waterproof tape. Next we want to keep the environment controlled, so we install our SaniDry Sedona. This dehumidifier will effectively eliminate damp and musty odors by drying and filtering the air. It will keep the home at a healthy relative humidity which will in turn provide healthier indoor air quality. Lastly, to finish this project is our spray foam insulation, which gets sprayed directly onto the foundation and expands filling every crack and void. This type of insulation guarantees in airtight seal, helping lower energy costs.

Clean Space Encapsulation; Portland, OR

The customer called with concerns of air quality coming from the crawl space.

Installing an EverLast Door in Portland, OR

These homeowners had problems with big critters entering their crawl space and causing issues. Over time, this also made it easy for water and debris to enter and affect the vapor barrier, causing the fiberglass insulation to sag due to moisture. They also knew their exterior crawl space entry was a mess. It sat at ground level, allowing heavy rains to flow into the crawl space, and allowing critters of all sizes to gain easy access. Knowing that this could become a major issue, these homeowners reached out to us in hopes of finding them a permanent solution to give them peace of mind and protect their crawl space. We went out and thoroughly inspected the crawl space, then met with the owners to discuss the game plan.

We installed a full encapsulation system to address the crawl space. This entails a full perimeter drainage pipe that helps direct water intrusion to our SuperSump that will collect this water and pump it outside through a discharge line. We then install our TerraBlock system onto the dirt floor for insulation and our CleanSpace, 20 mil thick vapor barrier is sealed on top providing 770 mm of protection for this crawl space. We also installed our effective dehumidifier that will dry and filter the air eliminating damp and musty odors all while keeping a healthy relative humidity. Lastly for the inside of the crawl space, we installed our SilverGlo wall system into the foundation walls for insulation. To address the accessway concern, we installed our EverLast Door and EverLast access well. Together they create a safe exterior access into the crawl space. This door seals off outside air, protecting the encapsulated space. The access well is situated around it, allowing anyone to crouch down and enter the crawl space, but also protecting the space from having anything pressing into the space. It's made of very heavy and durable polyethylene and holds back soil from the EverLast Door. This is the solution the homeowners were looking forward to. Now this home has exterior access into the crawl space and is fully encapsulated and protected, giving these homeowners real peace of mind.
