Replacing Windows in Holyoke, MA

This homeowner in Holyoke, MA called us hoping that we would be able to help her with her windows. They were old and leaky, and left a lot to be desired. Additionally, she enjoyed displaying items in her windows, and was unable to do so with her windows. During the winter months, old, badly installed, leaky windows with poor insulation value will make people feel colder and more uncomfortable than they would with better windows. The homeowner may turn up the thermostat, causing their heating bills to go up. In the summer, these same windows allow more of the heat from the sun into the home, making them feel hotter than they should. They may turn up the air conditioning, causing their cooling bills to go up. Results: Cold and drafty rooms in the winter, hot rooms in the summer, higher heating and cooling bills.

We had the perfect solution for this customer - our Sunrise double-hung replacement windows! The vinyl material used to construct a Sunrise Window frame is already thermally superior to any other window framing material. Then it is made even better by the injection of polyurethane insulation foam into the frame channels which delivers an industry high-bar of R-7. Our expert window installers will also inject low expansion foam between the window frame and the wall studs to further insulate the window unit, improving the thermal barrier and infiltration resistance properties of the entire window assembly. Results: Warmer and less drafty rooms in the winter, cooler rooms in the summer, lower heating and cooling bills.

Installing SunHouse Basement Window Enclosures in Holyoke, MA

This homeowner in Holyoke, MA initially called us hoping to get help with her garage insulation. However, she was interested in having her entire home evaluated, as she had a few issues that she wanted to hear opinions on. During the evaluation, our Home Comfort Specialist asked if she had any other concerns in her home outside of the garage insulation. She said that the home, which she had moved into a few years prior, had window wells she wanted replaced. She said that they were particularly old, and were leaking water into the basement during rainstorms.

We were able to help this customer! We were able to replace her old, leaking window wells with brand new SunHouse™ window enclosures. SunHouse™ features a sturdy, matching clear cover, which keeps out rain and leaves. The base is a bright color, ensuring that more natural light is reflected into the basement. And the bottom leans that there is no mud splashing on the windows, or weeds growing inside the enclosure! The homeowner was very happy, and is looking forward to not having leaking window wells.

Reducing Ice Damming in West Springfield, MA

This homeowner in West Springfield, MA called us out to their home to see what could be done for the prevention of their ice damming issues they had been experiencing. We conducted our Full Home Energy Evaluation and noticed that their attic had old, nasty fiberglass insulation. Since fiberglass insulation is light and fluffy it allows air to travel through it, not making as the best insulator. We knew that we needed to remove and replace this insulation with more efficient material.

For this specific attic, we needed to create an insulation catwalk so that the HVAC system was still reachable. We install our expanded polystyrene SilverGlo foam board insulation across the ceiling joists. SilverGlo insulation boards are infused with graphite, increasing the insulation value by 24%. WE secure the SillverGlo with 5” screws and 3” washers. Dams made of Oriented Strand board are installed to keep insulation off catwalk. These Oriented Strand boards are two times stronger than plywood! After this, TruSoft cellulose insulation is blown into attic, also covering any sace beneath the catwalk is filled. Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver by Eco Energy Solutions, the ice dams in this home will be drastically reduced due to new insulation and air sealage of the attic!
