One of the most important features of any waterproofing system is a reliable, properly installed discharge line. A discharge line needs to insure that the water is removed from the crawlspace without clogging, freezing, or allowing the water back into the crawlspace.
In these pictures you can see that the discharge line is going far out into the homeowner's side yard to discharge the water over 30' from the basement foundation wall. This will keep the water from flowing back into the basement and creating a constant problem.
In addition, this discharge line has an IceGuard at the point where the discharge line exists the basement. An IceGuard will keep the discharge line from clogging or freezing during the winter months.
As you can see in the Before picture, the Healthy Spaces team has carefully removed the existing sod and placed it on black plastic, then they have dug out the discharge line and piled that soil on the black plastic as well. This will make it extremely easy for the crew to restore the yard.
In the After picture, you can see, or barely see, where the discharge line was installed. The dirt was replaced and tamped down, then the sod was replaced over the line as well. Once the sod reestablishes its rootbase, the discharge line will be invisible to the naked eye.
Homeowners in Evansville, IN were looking at purchasing a home with a crawl space that had issues of groundwater intrusion, relative humidity, and was causing mold growth.
In the before photo, you can clearly see the fungus growing on the wooden subfloor joists of an Evansville, IN crawl space. The fungus is growing and slowly decomposing the subfloor joist. If left alone over time, the problem could compromise the structural integrity of the subfloor joist. Thankfully, the homeowners were able to work out a deal with the seller who elected to completely destroy the fungus and have it properly removed by Healthy Spaces.
In the second photo, you can see that the fungus removal has been completed on the subfloor joist. Each joist was individually scrubbed and cleaned on all sides in order to kill the fungus.
These Henderson, KY homeowners were at their wits end! They had constant basement flooding the last two weeks and prior to that, seasonal flooding that had ruined the walls and floor of the basement, laundry room, and garage.
After meeting with a dry basement expert from Healthy Spaces, the homeowners realized that they could have an interior drainage system installed in about 4 days that would leave their basement, laundry room, and garage dry all the time.
First, the Healthy Spaces installation team cut trenches into the perimeter of the three flooding areas, even around tricky corners and a curved fireplace. Next, they installed a Waterguard interior drainage system and hooked it up to a powerful Zoeller sump pump system.
In these two pictures, you can see where Steven Joseph and his installation team battled severe water intrusion to install the sump pump in the best location to remove all the water from the basement. In the After picture, you can see what a difference the right system can make! The basement is already dry and the system installation isn't quite finished yet!
Any Henderson, KY basement experiencing flooding needs a reliable, powerful sump pump constructed of quality components. This is a SuperSump Sump Pump from Basement Systems. Our Healthy Spaces installation team is trained to install this remarkably compact, reliable Zoeller sump pump with our Waterguard Basement Waterproofing perimeter drain system. As you can see here, the pump is placed into a cut out in the basement slab, which is then filled with rock to allow the water to freely enter the perforated sump pump basket. The basket and entire shell are composed of rigid, durable plastic that will not degrade, warp or crack like other pumps. The tight-fitting lid ensures that outside debris stay out, but there is still a drain in the lid to handle those unexpected plumbing emergencies like a broken pipe. There is a WaterWatch alarm housed in the lid as well, which will alert the homeowners if the pump fails, becomes overwhelmed, or loses power in the midst of a storm and is being filled. Finally, you can see the rigid PVC style discharge line and dedicated outlet that make this sump pump system dependable--you don't have to worry about an overloaded circuit or a kinked discharge line. If your sump pump doesn't match these standards, it is time to have one of our Waterproofing Experts out to show you how Healthy Spaces can keep your basement dry all the time!
This homeowner in Henderson, KY, was having issues in his crawl space with moisture and mold. Part of the problem was that they did not have a crawl space door to seal up any moisture getting in. And a leaky crawl space access door lets in cold air in winter and humid air in summer, causing condensation, mold and rot in your crawl space.
We installed an EverLast Crawl Space door which will seal off outside air, never rust or rot, and will never need paint. In addition to the Crawl Space Door, we installed an EverLast Access Well which replaces old, corroded metal window wells and rotted wood entryways. An access well finishes nicely off the outside of your home and also complements the landscaping around your home. A bed of gravel is laid along the bottom of the well, which assists in drainage to help keep out flooding water.
