Homeowner in Crofton, KY had issues with humidity in their crawl space which eventually caused mold to grow on the floor joists. When you have humidity in the crawl space, it can lead to the following problems: rotting & mold, odors & allergens, and higher utility bills just to name a few. As humidity builds in your crawl space, it creates an ideal space for mold and rot to grow which is exactly what our client was experiencing. After hearing that their neighbors used Healthy Spaces, they decided to give us a call for a free, no-obligation inspection.
Our team first needed to remove any materials that had been exposed to mold spores before we could remediate them. Once that was completed, Sean and his team, treated the entire area with chemicals to kill any remaining mold and would prevent any further growth. Once all the mold was removed and the area was treated, our team installed a new vapor barrier throughout the crawl space and sealed all vents. Controlling ground moisture with a vapor barrier is a crucial part of keeping your crawl space dry and creates a healthier environment for your family to breathe.

Crawlspaces are notorious for having mold problems and being incredibly energy inefficient. This crawlspace in Elberfeld, IN was pretty typical for crawlspaces in the area: dirt floor, occasional flooding, open vents and doorways, and uninsulated walls. The experts at Healthy Spaces set out to change the space for the homeowners into an area that would be conditioned and energy efficient. In this case, the entire crawlspace was treated for mold and the existing, moldy insulation was removed. Every surface was scrubbed and the floor leveled. Next, the installation team insulated with the walls with a product called SilverGlo. It's a high efficiency, mold resistant panel insulation secured around the inside of the foundation walls. The spaces in between the subfloor joists are also insulated and secured in place with expanding foam insulation. Once those components are set and dried, the team will encapsulate the entire crawlspace with CleanSpace. The crawlspace will then be isolated from the dirt and outside air, allowing for greater energy efficiency and warmer floors this season!
Our client in Chandler, IN, had a crawl space adjacent to their basement that was under only one room on the main floor. There appeared to be moisture and potential mold in the space. It also had insulation that would likely need to be replaced. They called Healthy Spaces to help determine their best option for fixing their crawl space.
To eliminate the moisture problem, System Design Specialist, Damon Cheatham, proposed installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier. Installing a vapor barrier slows or prevents the evaporation of ground moisture into the crawl space air. The CleanSpace vapor barrier turns your crawl space into a semi-conditioned space. When that occurs, your floors feel warmer in the winter and your energy bills go down.

This Newburgh, IN home was experiencing regular crawlspace flooding due to the high water table in the area. The homeowners knew that simply installing a vapor barrier was not sufficient--they had two previous vapor barriers fail. They also needed a state of the art, energy efficient, durable sump pump system to remove ground water from below the vapor barrier.
The homeowners met with Healthy Spaces to discuss having their crawlspace encapsulated and waterproofed. The most efficient sump pump for their needs was a SuperSump--a Zoeller sump pump with some very important features contributing to its longevity. For example, the SuperSump has an airtight lid that will isolate the encapsulated crawlspace from the water in the sump basket. There is also a WaterWatch alarm in the sump pump lid, which will alert the homeowners if the pump becomes overwhelmed.
