These homeowners had a tremendous amount of water that would come into their basement every time it would rain due to hydrostatic pressure. Because of this, their basement was, constantly saturated with water. Because of the water that would enter their basement they had a constantly humid space. Because of the excessive humidity mold was allowed to form. Because of the stack effect their entire home was affected by what was going on in their basement. After dealing with this issue for many years they finally said enough is enough and decided to contact the professionals at Basement Systems of New York to see how we could help them with the issues that were plaguing their home.

Upon our Design Specialist completing his consultation he determined that the best course of action would be to install our patented FlowGuard system with laterals. The reason this was the best system for their home was due to the thickness of their concrete slab, as well as where their mechanicals was. Normally we can run our waterproofing system around the perimeter of the basement, but due to the mechanicals, we had to opt for laterals. The laterals we installed will work the same as if we had put in our typical continuous one-piece system to get all the water from the basement to our gravity basin. 

Once our system was in place, we then connected everything and dug for our gravity basin. This basin would allow for any water that our system would catch to go out to daylight with the help of gravity. A gravity discharge was ideal for this project because of how their yard was pitched. As well a gravity discharge was important to the homeowners as they do not live there year-round. Essentially they would not be able to monitor the system. By installing a gravity discharge, they do not have to worry about losing power and their system not keeping their home dry.

Since installing our patented systems these homeowners have noticed an increase in their comfort levels throughout the entire home. As well they now have a dry and comfortable basement that they can finally again use as an area for storage and entertainment. Because of how wet 2021, they continued receiving water in their basement in the obvious spots that they always saw. They also saw their basement take on water on their back wall, something that they had never seen till now. To take care of the water issue plaguing this basement, we started by creating a trench around the entire perimeter of their basement with two laterals along the front and back of the basement to mitigate hydrostatic pressure. Once everything was dug out we started to lay our perforated pipe and cover it with gravel through the entirety of our trench and laterals. This piping will eventually tie into our sump pump and direct any water caught by our system out of the home.

Next, we drilled our weep holes on the bottom of their block foundation. These weep holes allow us to redirect water that is entering their home to our waterproofing system. After drilling our weep holes throughout the perimeter of their foundation, we installed our DryTrak and FlowGuard waterproofing system before applying concrete to the trench we created and returning the basement to its former glory before we started their project.

Since completing this project, these homeowners have not seen any water in their basement, as well they were able to finish their basement. Our clients home was having an issue with their patio, specifically not sitting level against their foundation which caused an eyesore for them, as well a tripping hazard. We injected and raised their patio to sit level with the homes foundation with the help of PolyLevel. By doing so we were able to alleviate the eyesore from their home, as well the tripping issue they were having going in and out the door due to there being a difference in height. 

We were recommended to these homeowners by a contractor who identified a significant issue with their Monolithic foundation leading to water seepage. The seepage resulted in standing water during heavy rainstorms and spring melts, prompting the homeowners to address the problem before refinishing their basement.

The challenge was not only water penetration but also a bowing right wall due to the water-related pressure from the earth. To tackle the water penetration, our first step involved creating a trench for a perforated pipe. Subsequently, we dug a basin for our SuperSump Plus, equipped with a 1/3 horsepower Zoeller pump. Grinding the walls allowed us to install CarbonArmor foundation reinforcement strips. We then set up piping in the trench, connecting it to the sump pump, reconcreted over it, and applied our DryTrak waterproofing system to the wall-floor joint.

The result? All the issues affecting their home have been successfully resolved. Thanks to our systems, the homeowners can now proceed with finishing their basement, providing them with both functional space and peace of mind.
