Water Seeping in through Basement Windows - Portland, OR

When John's Waterproofing does an inspection for a basement waterproofing system, we want to ensure we check every aspect of the basement for possible water entry. While installing a drainage system and wall systems are important, we want to address all of the basement and that starts with checking the basement windows. These below grade windows are prime spots for water intrusion issues because the soil around the home is loose and water can easily pass through to the foundation and windows. If there's no form of protection against that loose soil, water will build up and need somewhere to go. This tends to be through the cracks and crevices around the windows. To make sure that water can't gain access into the basement, we install Window Wells and drainage. A Window Well is the barrier that goes outside around the below grade windows. It is lined with gravel and surrounds the entirety of the window to ensure water won't end up pushing against the window frame. The U-shape of the Window Well will also allow for light to reach the basement and add comfortability. We also install a drain system which collects the rainwater that goes into the window well, this will guide water collected here to can safely pass through the foundation and be guided to the waterproofing system we installed inside the basement. After the below-grade windows have been addressed, this basement can rest assured their basement is waterproofed on all fronts.

Interior and Exterior Basement Waterproofing - Portland, OR

Before John's visited this home, rain water had flowed freely into the basement through the doorway of the below-grade stairwell leading down. Additionally, ground water had also entered the basement through the concrete foundation walls for many years. All of this water intrusion was very frustrating for the family, so they decided it was time to call on their leading, local waterproofing experts here at John's!

In order to prevent rain water from flowing into the basement from the stairwell, we installed a TrenchDrain in front of the doorway. From now on, as rain water accumulates in the stairwell, it will flow into the TrenchDrain (rather than into the basement) and from there it will travel to a TripleSafe sump pump for immediate expulsion away from the home via an underground discharge line. In addition to the installation of the TrenchDrain, we installed BrightWall Paneling, and an indoor perimeter WaterGuard collection system inside of the basement, to catch and expel all wall water through the same TripleSafe and discharge line that services the TrenchDrain. BrightWall paneling is attached directly onto leaky basement walls, creating a waterproof barrier that sends all water cascading down into the awaiting WaterGuard installed at the base of the walls. Once water reaches this, it travels to the TripleSafe, and is removed from the basement. After so many years of dealing with the frustration of water into their basement, this family is happy to finally have a dry area to store their belongings without worry of water damage. After this job was complete, our team reached out to the homeowner, and she expressed satisfaction with the crews professionalism, helpfulness, and respectfulness. Here at John's, we value all feedback, and after over 50 years of dedication to our customers, we are still proudly and consistently offering WOW service to all who call on us.

Drainage System in Crawl Space; Tigard, OR

The customer called looking for some foundation repair and drainage system in the basement.

Basement wall leaks

This homeowner had a beautiful finished basement but this last year the wall was softening and has a strange dark area. When our team came out to inspect they discovered that this was due to a large concentration of wet soil behind the basement wall on the exterior. Over time water began to work its way through the concrete wall and now the family risked damage to the finished walls of their home. Our team came in and placed not only a drain system to collect this water but also installed our patented Bright Wall panels to ensure the walls of the basement remained strong for the life of the house.

Finished Bright Wall Panels

This basement started as removing water from the basement and the customer decided that he wanted a nice finished space and decided on Bright Wall finish panels to make the rest of it look finished and clean.
