This home office was cold and smelled musty. The homeowner wanted to create a healthy space for them to work, so it was time to upgrade. We did a WaterGuard drainage system, a TripleSafe sump pump, and BrightWall panels.
The plan for this basement remodel was interrupted due to the homeowner finding water intrusion while demoing. This lead them to give John's a call to find them a permanent solution. We went out and thoroughly inspected the basement and found the problem areas and began to work up an estimate that will effectively address the issues. After talking with the homeowner and going over the game plan, we began this project.
First we use a jack hammer to create a trench around the interior perimeter of the basement, within this we install our WaterGuard. This system will collect all of the water that enters from the walls as well as ground water and drain it to the lowest point. At this low point, we install our TripleSafe Sump that will gather all of this collected water and pump it outside of the home and away from the foundation through a discharge line. Outside, we then install our LawnScape Outlet to keep debris out of the discharge line. Along the walls we install our ThermalDry radiant barrier that will help direct moisture from the walls down into the perimeter drainage system. This material also helps keep a comfortable temperature. To ensure the spaces relative humidity remains healthy, we than place a SaniDry dehumidifier in the basement. Now that the water issue is permanently addressed, this homeowner can now confidently finish remodeling their basement.
Not only did we make this a large storage space for the family, we removed all the unnecessary pipings and debris. Now the house has clean air and increased square footage which increases their home value!
This homeowner decided that they were ready to finish their basement and have it be as a usable space. Upon researching the steps towards finishing their basement, they noticed some water damage and reached out to John's Waterproofing. The homeowner agreed to doing a basement waterproofing and prep the space before doing the full basement renovation. In order to properly waterproof and prevent against future water damage, we applied a ThermalDry vapor barrier along the walls which is a waterproof material that can help securely flow water to the drainage system. Our drainage system, WaterGuard, is installed along the interior perimeter of the basement that collects water to send to the TripleSafe sump pump. With the sump pump it can safely pump water away from the homes foundation to properly protect and waterproof the basement so it is ready for the next steps to finish the basement.
This basement was used as nothing more than a tool storage area due to the musty smell and the mold growing on the walls. Our crews installed a water guard system and treated the mold prior to installing our Bright Wall panels to finish the space.
