Radon Levels Lead Family to Plan Two-Point Mitigation System

After living in their home for several years, this family decided to take action to create a healthier indoor environment for their children. Increased media coverage and growing awareness of radon risks in their community also encouraged them to look into mitigation. A home detector showed radon levels around 9 pCi/L on the main floor, above the EPA's recommended action level of 4 pCi/L. A charcoal test kit was left to measure basement levels, with the final scope subject to those results. The proposed solution includes a two-point radon mitigation system, with extraction points serving the crawlspace and basement. This customized approach addresses the home's challenging foundation layout while helping reduce radon exposure.

New Home Radon Mitigation: Creating a Safe Space for Family and Future Generations

After moving into their newly built home about a year ago, a couple discovered high radon levels during routine testing—readings hovered around 13 pCi/L. With plans to finish the lower level soon and grandkids frequently visiting, they knew mitigation was a priority. A custom radon system was installed to address the elevated levels before any additional construction began. By taking action early, they not only protected the health of their family but also set a strong foundation for a safe and comfortable future living space. With the peace of mind that their home’s air quality is now under control, they can move forward with finishing their lower level—and enjoy visits from their grandchildren without worry.

Radon Mitigation for Home Sale With High Radon Levels and Results

Ron and Kathy are preparing to sell their parents’ home, which is currently under contract. Radon became a concern after electronic readings on the main level showed levels in the mid-20s, prompting action before closing. A charcoal test kit has been provided to confirm levels, with results pending at the time of installation. Because of the potential for extremely high radon levels, no guarantee will be offered until verified results are received. The goal is to provide the new homeowners with a safer living environment through professional radon mitigation and proper testing.
