Air and Water Quality Upgrades for a Wiscasset Home

Robert T. in Wiscasset, Maine wanted to address multiple water and air quality concerns with a comprehensive solution designed to improve both the home's water supply and indoor environment. Initial testing revealed radon in water at 5,107 pCi/L, along with hard water (51.1 mg/L) and measurable levels of iron and manganese, making this a great candidate for a complete treatment approach.

To address the water concerns, we installed a 99% efficient Repco Cambridge radon-in-water removal system paired with a DAB DTRON2 constant pressure pump, along with a 1.5 cubic foot Evolve EVRS water softener and a 4" x 20" sediment filter. Together, these systems help improve water quality, reduce hardness, and address radon before the water enters the home.

For indoor air protection, we also installed a sub-slab depressurization system featuring an RN2 radon fan and a Drainjer drain cover, creating a complete radon mitigation strategy for both air and water.

During startup, our team discovered that a factory-installed bushing connecting the Cambridge unit to the DTRON2 pump had split open, preventing final completion of the water system. Rather than leave the issue unresolved, we identified the defect immediately and scheduled a follow-up visit to install the replacement component, collect final water samples, document serial numbers, and complete final payment.

Despite the unexpected factory defect, the major installation work was completed successfully, and Robert now has a comprehensive air and water treatment system designed to provide long-term protection for his home.

From elevated radon in both air and water to a complete treatment solution, this project demonstrates how the right combination of equipment can create a healthier home from the ground up.
