Radon Mitigation - Lincoln, NE

The team met with Jill, homeowner and her daughter. Jill is currently experiencing a lot of health issues and they have black mold in the house but she can't afford remediation right now. She has cough and mental fog. Her husband died of lung cancer and was also a smoker. Her brother lives in the basement on this large two story acreage. She borrowed an Air Things and levels ranged from 8 to 17 over the week but she did not know the average. She was concerned more of her health and since the way her husband died, could be related to radon too. Jill was very nice and her daughter was helpful. Jill will really benefit from our indoor air quality solutions and radon mitigation. Happy with her decision!

Radon System for Home with Inaccessible Crawlspaces and New Basement Addition

This home presented a unique challenge: two inaccessible crawlspaces and a newly added basement section. To ensure proper radon reduction, our team designed a system with an extraction point in the corner of the new basement, run through the block wall to connect with a second extraction point located near the new plumbing and egress window. Despite limited access to key areas, strategic routing and thoughtful system design ensured we could deliver reliable radon mitigation while respecting the home’s structure. Sometimes the job calls for a little creativity—and this install delivered protection where it matters most.

Radon Mitigation for Ranch Home with High Levels and No Drain Tile

This ranch-style home had radon levels of 22.0 pCi/L, well above the EPA action level. While the basement had a sump pit, it lacked drain tile, and the layout included two main chambers separated by a stem wall with footings. To ensure proper radon reduction, a 3-point extraction system was designed:

  • Point one near the plumbing stack
  • Point two approximately 12 feet away in the basement corner
  • Point three on the opposite side of the stem wall

The mitigation system will exit through the rim joist on the north side of the home. The homeowner expressed interest in the Breathe EZ air purification and duct cleaning, but will wait due to budget. Despite structural limitations, this setup delivers a strong foundation for radon abatement, protecting the home's air quality and ensuring a safer living space.
